The Vent

Las Ventanas - Hell sure is expensive!

I had been reading all of the "Best of.." lists and read the rave reviews in all of the magazines. Las Ventanas Al Paraiso has just got to be the ultimate vacation destination! Sure it's $700 a night (no meals) but but now is the time to splurge, before the kids come. It will be so romantic that who knows maybe kids will come sooner rather than later. Wrong! First of all, I did not tell my husband how much I was paying, I wanted to treat him. But at Las Ventanas there will be none of that! Apparently, women are not real people and therefore are not allowed to sign to guest register. Even after I explained that mine was the name on the credit card. Fine. Whatever. Then, I look outside. Yes, the view is all they claimed. However, our patio is steps away from a community pool. NO PRIVACY at all. Not even for the people that paid even more than we did for a balcony and hot tub. We tried so hard but no matter what we did we couldn't help but hear them having sex (more or less constantly) the entire time we were there!

We decided to spend our first day on the beach, we figured it would be more quiet than our room. Wrong again! They were doing construction next door! Jack hammers and all. When I spoke with the management they claimed that it was our imagination and no, there was no construction anywhere near there.

My first day, my first meal was lunch at the restaurant. I have blocked out my mind what I ate but all I remember is the violent reaction that my stomach had to it. I was so sick that for the next 2 days I was hooked up to an IV in my $700 a night hotel room with a bored husband and a non-English speaking nurse listening to the people above us having sex in their hot tub.

I've never been so glad to leave any place before in my life.
